You know what bugs me? RAS Syndrome. For the uninitiated, it stands for Redundant Acronym Syndrome syndrome and applies to things like 'PIN number' (Personal Identification Number number) or 'ATM machine' (Automated Teller Machine machine).

I saw a horrible version today. Newcastle's Greenmarket car park has closed down, and there was a sign to say so. 'NCP Car Park closed from 8th July.'

That stands for National Car Park Car Park.

That looks like the sort of thing which would require a "Facebook" group.

If you're not on Facebook, you won't know what I'm talking about...

For example, I belong to a Facebook group called "If you can't differentiate between 'your' and 'you're', you deserve to die"

Pedants unite!

That's the one thing that bugs me about being anomymous (well there are more than that, but...) I'd like to be able to add all my friends here but am really paranoid about it.

I might have to join that your and you're group. It sounds like my spiritual home :)

It is a car park of the "National Car Parks" brand... But I would agree that you get money out of the ATM, not the ATM machine. And I think I regularly get asked to enter my PIN (not my PIN number). But sometimes I pay cash and get given "one pence change"...
