To any writers out there

This sounds fascinating. I plan to take part.

And Waterstones have a flash fiction competition going at the minute, as linked to by Calistro and.... someone else that I can't remember. Sorry. It's a maximum of one entry which has a max of 600 characters (not words) when submitted online. You can read the submitted stories too. I'm trying not to click through else I'll spend time I should be working reading them all....

Ooh, the Waterstones comp looks particularly tempting - all those little snippets of people's lives make good story prompts in themselves, don't they?

Hello B. I shall certainly be following the Megan Taylor short story as it unfolds, and look forward to your bits and Carolines's as they appear.
In a vaguely related area, because very short stories are involved, nay I point you towards another blog that I read regularly, and which you might find interesting.
Sara at asalted.blogspot.com has a lot of links to various places where short stories are published (some of which you have mentioned such as mslexia). But I have found interesting stories at "six sentences" (link on Sara's sidebar) - even shorter than 600 characters.

Hi Jen, yes it really does look good. I will have to find some time to read them all :)

Hi pierre, I had been wondering where you were! Thanks for that link, I've not been on that blog before. Always nice to find new places to visit!

Hello again, b. Sorry, I have been lurking the last few days, short of ideas for comments, while you have produced lots of interesting posts.

Hello B. Since you seemed to be happy to hear about "a salted", here is the other link I had though of putting in that comment. Tania Hershman writes a lot about her experiences at submitting short stories, getting some accepted, and some rejected, and how competitions are judged. She has also started an on-line publication that reviews short stories (link on her sidebar - the short review).
